28 Express new mods

I boat in a salt water area and even though it's only the heat exchanger that gets the salt water I still flush every time. I found it to be kinda of a pain to open engine hatch and screw a hose onto the flusher every time and usually was a hard to remove cap each time because I would make it tight not to suck air ever. Anyway I added a flush from the outside which is very simple and 10 times easier. For safety's sake I added a shutoff just inside also. I also added a air conditioning flush. The boat is kept on a lift so when I wanted to use the a/c I would have to lower it in the water every time. Another pain! I have a sump in the lagoon and just run that to the flush, takes 5 seconds to set up. Also the flush is good if you ever have to prime your pump or or I can backflush the strainer.

Very nice! I'm guessing these could also be used to flush winterizing fluid thru the the two systems without pulling any hoses?

Very nice. Thanks for posting this we all benefit from others experiences, good, as this, is or bad as some other have unfortunately had. I plan on doing something similar. I however have a need to run the generator as well as the AC while the boat is on the trailer, for flushing and maintenance purposes. I intend to add the additional water inlet, then take it to a manifold and then go from there to the engine, generator and AC. This is another one of this winters projects! When I get it done I will post the install.

Be very careful on the genny. Because its a displacement pump and because it uses lift exhaust you can very easily flood the engine and lock it up. Getting the pressure just right will prove to be interesting I think. Too little water and you can burn up the impeller and too much and you would be able to lift it out quick enough though the lift exhaust. Right off the top of my head I can't recall the GPM flow rate needed for the genny.

I have a flush port between the genny strainer and seacock so when the hose is supplying city water the pressure is not enought to pass the impeller when genny is off. Therefore water flows down the seackck. When i run the genny the impeller sucks the water to cool it so it is pretty straightforward.

You should always use double hose clamps on marine water lines.
