[On Holiday]

The family went on vacation last week and we had a splash.

This was our view for the week


Firstmate did a lot of kayaking


then some paddleboarding


tried skiing for the first time and it was almost a success


and also enjoyed fishing


The house was near an airport so we spent some time playing air traffic control


for these planes




Second mate wanted to help cook breakfast after waking up


When we weren't playing on the water we drove around the countryside


The secondmate did some tubing and tried out the ski trainer. We all enjoyed our stay at the lake.

Looks like an amazing vacation, something about adding a boat and in my case an airplane too...to any vacation, it just makes it that much better.

Which airport was this? that's a nice experimental airplane in the background of your second picture.

Where are the floats on the plane? Then you can do both! An amphibious Cessna Grand Caravan 208 would be a great toy to have, they are lots of fun...

We enjoyed it so much that we bought a second home on the lake. My wife and children spent most of July at the lake.

That brought back memories... My eldest is out on his own (serves in the Alabama national guard and has just started EOD school), the second has just decided to go back to school and go to medical school. My youngest still likes to go out when she is not too busy elsewhere (age 15 going on 20!). So the days of having young kids and giggles and exhausted naps on board are over till grandkids come!

Made me smile wistfully. Enjoy and savor the moments.

Awesome memory makers, great photos and great boat! Especially like the cooler "step stool" shot and the tandem water ski! Also reminds me of days gone by when our now adult kids and their friends were younger and running me ragged pulling them around on skis, wakeboards, and tubes. Grands are almost big enough to start watersports and can't wait for them to get up. Enjoyed the photos and hope you enjoy all the moments! Boats are great for family time ...

I'll post some more pictures from this year. The house we rented in the first group of pictures was so very relaxing, our house now is just as relaxing but with a much better view and quality of water however a lot more boat action. Can't wait until LDW when we go back again.

The lift was upgraded from the previous owner and this is prior to final adjustments being made to make the boat centered. I've been a trailer boat for years and this is a learning curve for us.

After the holiday weekend I needed to go to work for 4 days before I took another week off. While I was away, friends joined my family for a week at the lake. This is me going and them staying.

When I came back a week later we attended a church service on the water.

About 30 boats in all were anchored in the cove while many others were sitting on lawn chairs back on shore.

My father flies RC airplanes I did too back in the day. He flew this plane many times off land and other planes off water but never this plane off the water.


After a few taxi rides to see how the plane would track he applied more power however the prop splashed too much water and would stall the engine so I had to swim out and retrieve it.


This happened on two occasions so he decided to call it quits in order to make adjustments to the floats.
