If you take it out of the USA, make sure that you have your exit stamps and entry stamps into Mexico, then make sure you get the exit stamp out of Mexico when you clear out back to the USA. I have only been on as crew going in and out of Mexico, and we had an agent handle all the customs and immigration, they came down to the boat to check us in and out. One thing to note if you change cities and end up somewhere else in Mexico you need exit stamps from the harbour master if you aren't a Mexico flagged boat. So when we did run from LaPaz to Acapulco we had to have the exit stamp from LaPaz otherwise they wouldn't clear us in Acapulco. They had a number of runs from LaPaz to Cabo and needed to get stamps at each entry and exit back and forth between those two cities as well. Then we met with customs and immigration in Acapulco to exit the country. The next stop we had was entry into Costa Rica.
Another thing while not required is to have the boat documented with the USCG, which will help with entry and exit and if there are any issues.
Thanks, Chris
