Replacement springs storage Compartment

Postby timp4411 » Mon Jul 30, 2018 11:03 am

Hi All.

I have a 2006 3860 and I have attached a picture of the long spring that hold open the storage compartment above the sink vanity in the master/forward head.

As you can see, the springs have been bent/kinked (both of them) and no longer hold open the compartment door.

Has anyone ever replaced these before? If so, where did you find the replacements?

Thanks for the help!

My boat has hydraulic gas struts instead of those springs. They work much better.

West Marine has them or Amazon also. You just need to determine the proper length (match your current springs) and holding power (the weight of the door).

Tiimp4411,

You know that we have to give you a hard time about the curlers in the picture...

I also second that you could use a small gas strut and it will fix the issue. That is what regal is using. Measure to a spot that would be open to closed. They are pretty small that they use, but only need one.
Thanks, Chris

Thanks Rich & Chris.

Since you see the curlers... can you guess who it was that somehow managed to bend the springs?

Hint: It wasn't me !
