Water Tank location Regal 3360

Postby lance_3360 » Wed Jun 06, 2018 7:28 am

Hi, I have some issues with the water system.
Water pressure is ok, but then when the pump kicks in the pump does not hold up the pressure and it drops until a small stream is coming out of every faucet. I think Ill check the pump first but what I really would like to know is water tank location.

Regards

Not familiar with that model - but where is your filler?

Most of the ones with the filer in the bow by the anchor locker are under the floor in the berth. You may have access to the filter via an access panel under a berth seat. Most of the time the filters can be removed to test pressure and cleaned.

If it's rear mounted you should be able to chase the tubing. If it's somewhere in the middle, i'm no help.

Hoping someone with experience with a 3360 chimes in.

Did you check the strainer which should be just ahead of the pump?

Agree, if the pump has full pressure when first turning on a faucet then drops to a dribble sounds (when you can still hear the pump running ?) like a up stream pre filter. We have also installed a activated charcoal filter on the pump outlet to get rid of the smell in the ice maker, faucets, etc. If you have a downstream activated carbon filter that might be the cause and time to change it as well. The slight surge in flow at a faucet is probably due to the hot water heater tank being like a pressure accumulator ( a capacitor in a electrical circuit) and assist the flow for a few seconds or so? Dont think you need to go to the potable water tank unless the pre filter is located at the tank?

Thanks for the tips, I´ll check the filter of the pump tomorrow. Its on the firewall in the engine sump / bilge at the back of the boat.
But I have still no clue where the fresh water tank is. There is a bed in the bow of the boat - maybe under the matress?

Don't look under the mattress, that's where the dragons hide!

hahaha ok,

the problem was the filter in the pump. Its on the firewall in the engine sump next to the battery charger.
It was totally cloaked with scale.

Per your OP you indicated a small drip of water was coming out of all the faucets? That would mean the faucets are leaking? probably you meant when turning on any faucet you had good flow for a few seconds , you heard the pump turn on, then flow just reduced to a slow drip? i ,may have misinterpreted what you were saying? Glad you solve your problem. I would be careful as to what and where you fill up your potable water tank from, probably crud or a lot of calcium in your water source? Our vessel still has the original pump pre filter installed (18 years ago). Only problem was the pump itself failed last year, just worn out, my son's took too many long showers :(.

hehe, glad to hear how long it lasts :)
Yes, its the water in croatia very chalky etc. not only an issue for boats, all the house plumbing of the locals is also affected.

Interesting! If you want to just clean out the pump pre filter just take it out, buy some white vinegar, fill up a small bowl with it and put the chalked up pre filter into overnight . Dont know what a new pre filter would cost you where your located but white vinegar should be fairly cheep? My mother and grand mother made a lot of sauerkraut with it:)
