What is the exact make / model of the engine? I sure would have thought at that new of an engine they would be using a GM based engine (either Volvo or Merc). They did have the 351 (5.8L) used mostly in inboard settings, not stern drives, however by mid 90's they didn't want to use fuel injection so they exited the marine market, and the 5.7L GM block was used. If you have a ford computer on a GM block I wonder how that works? That would indicate that its fuel injected? I will let some of the engine guys answer, just my $0.02.
Thanks, Chris

Wonder how that works putting an automotive ECU instead of a marine variant? Wouldn't you need to program out all the sensors etc for it to work? I am not sure. The other thing are the marine versions should be potted and waterproof as well. It appears to be vented plastic, maybe that is why it quit working? Fresh water is one thing, but if in salt it would corrode pretty quick I would think.
Thanks, Chris

probably just some programming for the marine version , another reason why I prefer older systems and not this high tech nonsense of fuel injection and sensors.

BT, I agree other than I am glad we have MPI engines (no mechanical choke or carb, but with electronic idle control, limp home mode on minor engine failure, etc) but with mechanical throttles and shift levers. My suggestion is to contact Regal directly by phone (they dont respond very well to e mails from recent experience), be prepared to give them your hull number and they hopefully will be able to determine what engine you have, manufacture and model #, and how to find a direct replacement ECU for your engines! If your engines are VP or Merc try contacting a master distributor and see if they can help. Also, if you can find the serial number plate on the engines that would help a lot in finding what replacement ECU you need?
