Doggy ladder

Postby VMSea » Thu Oct 27, 2016 3:38 am

Hi there. We have a 3260 and our two dogs love jumping off the swim platform into the sea. Getting them back up though is not so carefree! The swim platform is a good foot or more above the water and involves a lot of heaving and several unintended scratches. It's ok when I can anchor close to the beach but in deep water it's a real hassle, especially on a windy day. I've searched the internet for options and haven't found one I like yet. Ideally I would like something that is foldable and is able to be stowed on or under the swim platform. I have contacted a boat builder here who is in the process of designing something, but I would be interested to know if anyone on this forum has a telescopic/foldable doggy ladder that doesn't need a hangar sized space to be stowed in when not in use.

Many thanks!

Did you read my mind? I have been looking to solve the same issue for a while now. I have a dog ladder/platform that hangs off my transom ladder but it really does not work so well. Please let me know the details behind what you are working with the boat builder on...

As far as my research goes...

Last year Regal added as an option a hydraulic swim platform for the 32EXP. I spoke to Regal about adding this to my 32 but they said they redesigned the structure of the existing platform in order to be able to support the hydraulic platform and it would not work on my boat :( Not giving up, I have been searching the web for an after market type of platform that stores under my exiting platform than I can deploy manually ( ie cheaper) and have not been able to find anything yet. I did see however Formula, Cobalt and Sea Ray seem to have them so I have been trying to find out who makes them.

I did find a manual folding type step for RV's but I am looking for something bigger.

The Sea Ray one looks like this... I am wondering is this is something I can buy and attached to my platform as this looks like it will solve the dog boarding issue along with the issue of having to store the step/platform.

Have you considered one of the Lilly Pads? they can be attached to the boat and work like a ramp up to the swim platform for the dogs. Pretty fun for the humans too.

I actually have something similar to this BUT its a bear to lug around/store/etc. Really looking to something that can attach/store to the platform (underneath) and deploy when needed.

Hi,

I had the same problem with my golden, this worked for me. Make sure you use the straps in anything more than calm waters, it will fall off and sink.

I'm very pleased with my Load-A-Pup Salty Dog. Got it on amazon.
