Rust at the base of the radar arch and the boat's sides

Postby just ice » Wed Mar 29, 2017 9:45 pm

I own a 2006 regal 3060. I love the boat, but............. I discovered what appear to be the beginning of rust "proliferation" at the base of the radar arch on both side of the boat. Any advise how to solve the problem?
Thank you

Rust... as in iron oxide that is redish in color?

Or do you mean that your paint is bubbling and the aluminum is corroding (oxidizing) underneath the paint of the arch?

Rust (redish in color) may indicate some improper hardware was used to attach the arch and it is rusting. There shouldn't really be any reason for any rust (iron oxide) in this area.

But my arch does have a small amount of pitting under the paint at the arch to hull joint, so the aluminum is being oxidized somehow. I've seen this on other boats too and I'm not sure why it occurs in this particular spot.

Can you post some pictures of it?

Thank you "Im Rich. The paint is "bubbling" where the radar arch meets the boat's hull. No actual rust is visible. Any practical, intelligent solution ? Is this the only 3060 with this problem?
