Adding steps to the trailer frame to climb into bow?

Postby BigCheese2100 » Sun May 03, 2015 2:01 pm

I have a new 2100 on a LoadRite Trailer. Has anyone ever added steps to their trailer near the bow? This would let you walk up near the bow and enter the boat -- just like climbing 2-3 steps.

The stern steps certainly OK while the boat is on the trailer.

However, 2-3 steps leading up & down from the bow seat to the winch and hitch would be extremely convenient while launching or loading the boat on a trailer. Wondering if anyone had done this or had advice.

Anything is pretty much doable on a trailer. If its a steel trailer its easier than an AL or Galv trailer. Many pontoon boats have stairs on trailer built in to the bow. Heck I have seen some pretty cool trailers in that the boat is on the lower tier and the PWC's are on the upper level that will lower once the boat is off. Just google the phrase " pwc and boat trailer " and look at the images section.

Any good metal shop can add about anything you can come up with. Its a space vs cost vs capacity thing.
Thanks, Chris

I've seen bolt-on steps that you can add to the bump stop tower on the neck. Google it. Actually, I think I'll Google it too b/c I've been wanting one myself. I'll let you know if I find anything.

To bring a little closure to this thread, yes, it is VERY possible to get this on your trailer.

Owens and Sons (in florida) even make a DIY kit that you can just bolt on to your trailer.
