Parked the Nissan Armada and got an 09 Dodge 2500 Cummins. I weighed the rig and it totals 16260, of which 9265 are the boat and trailer. Hauled it to through the mountains to Ohio last week and it did great. Got 11.2 mpg running 75 mph and never dropped more than 3 mph on the steepest grade.

Hey David,

Just a little FYI, not sure what brand you have of tires but keep an eye on them. All ST rated trailer tires are only good up to 65 MPH and Goodyear has a bulletin on them for exceeding that limit. You can exceed that to 75 MPH if you air up the tires 10 PSI over spec'd load tabled up to the nameplate per the service bulletin from Goodyear. If you can't add 10 PSI because your at the limit already then you are limited to 65 MPH or you can have a catastrophic blow out with heat build up.

See:
http://www.goodyear.com/rv/pdf/marathon ... 032806.pdf

Myself I have exceeded the 65 MPH rating without issue, but have talked to others that have had some bad problems.
Thanks, Chris

Thanks for the info Chris. I gave up on the Marathon tires about 10 years ago. For several years i was losing at least one tire a season. I have been running Carlisle tires since and have lost two (knock on fiberglass). A sidewall blew on one and lost a tread due to an overheated brake on the other. Some people say their are junk but they have done great for me. Since I tow everywhere and rack up the miles I replace all of them between two and three years. I am currently running their ST225/75R15 E at 80 psi.

Although not a Regal (yet) we have trailered our 3055.

First time was an F-250 4x4. Didn't even use the four by to get it out.

Image

When we moved from MI to TN I hired a professional transport company...she was great! Her tow vehicle was a Dodge 3500 2x4. I know she had the chip, beefed up transmission.

No photo, but I drive a Tahoe Z71. I have used it to haul the boat out for cleaning and repairs. The farthest I have towed it is 4, maybe 500 yards. If we get a 4160, those days will be over. A 3560, maybe. No, probably not.
