Just brought my new to me 2002 2860 home - Got a Venture aluminum triaxle trailer... Towing with my 2007 Durango Hemi.. I'm a bit overloaded - the truck is rated for 9000 lbs, and the boat is 7800 dry plus 1500 for the trailer. I towed with very little gas, no water, and 2 batteries on board... So I'm guessing I was 9500 lbs or so -
Did very well - got out of the ramp in 4 high and 4 low (had to do it a couple of times to adjust bunks) and towed comfortably at 55-65mph on the highway with little to no sway. I did put a weight distribution kit on the trailer which helps out alot. I'm only towing it once down to Cape Cod and that's where she'll be kept. From there, I'm only towing to the ramp and back from my sister's house which is a mile or two at the most.

Thanks, Brian

I use to tow my 2450 with a 2010 Holden Colorado, then i purchased a new 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee which turned out to be a lemon. Now i have a BMW X5 that should look good towing the new 2100 RX if and when it ever arrives.

longtime boater, former SR owner. I always liked the 2660/2765 and came across one with 67 hours late last summer. I didn't have anything to haul it with so I hired a local guy with a 3500 duramax. The boat is a 2005 w/an 8.1 on an alum. tri axle tr. Regal says the boat is 6100 dry, I don't believe that for a second. Total weight, I guess is 9000+. Anyone weigh this combo ? I'm trying to decide what truck to buy, heavy half or superduty, my guess. Thankyou for any help ! Lucille's captain

I will be borrowing my FIL's 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel in a few weeks to go on a 700 mile trip. I currently have a 2003 F150. I am sure I will notice a huge difference. I'll post pictures once I get the truck next weekend.

2003 Chevy 2500 4x4 with Duramax and Allison. I didn't tow this very far, but it was moved on its trailer about 1200 miles behind an F500.

Don at TBM (Toledo Beach Marina, MI) does the job for me.
My friends that see the launch procedure seem to enjoy watching them drop the boat in, and lift her out almost as much as being out on the water.
It's an amazing thing to watch.
The guys that drive the forklifts have amazing skill.
The boat has been "Rack-n-Launch" stored at this marina for over 10 years, and has never suffered a scratch.

I don't win any races getting off the line.

I currently have my FIL truck as he currently can't drive right now. It is a 2004 Dodge 2500 4x4 with a Cummins TD. I used the truck for a 700 round trip tow for our last boating weekend of the year. I averaged 16.8 mpg with mixed highway and mountain driving. At times I had to check my mirrors to make sure the boat was still behind me. When not towing I can get 27.2 mpg. MPG were calculated from using the trucks computer and not hand calculated. When I tow with my F150 I am happy when I can keep my mpg in double digits, not towing I have obtained 17 mpg.

I tow my 2008 Regal 1900 with 2013 BMW X3 28d. It may sound inadequate to all of you from USA, but I live in Europe and our standards for lot of things, including towing are different than ones over the ocean ;)

Anyway, it is more than adequate for towing it for 25 miles, from my country house where the boat stays during the winter to the river where it is in the water during the summer. And this process I do twice a year, at the beginning and end of the season.

I spent a year researching the 'perfect' tow vehicle (is there any such thing?). I chose the new Dodge Durango with 6 cylinder Pentastar and 8 speed transmission that will tow 6200 lbs! You can get an option with prewiring and a full rear bumper hitch already installed. All you need to add (if you need one) is the brake actuator (a connector is under your dash ready to click-in to your actuator).

Or choose the Hemi V8 and you can tow 7200 pounds!

The Durango is a great SUV for daily driving, and you have plenty of capacity for large trailer boats when you need it. The 6-cylinder Durango gets 24 mpg highway using regular gas (when not towing!) -- great performance for a three-row large SUV. Love it!
