I have recently bought a 2004 Regal 2000 when I towed it home the first time I took the Bimini off and stored it in the boat, when I went out yesterday I tried storing it folded forward over the windscreen and it just flipped backwards when towing is it meant to lie on the sun pad? it looked like this could damage it. or do you always have to remove it before towing? :?

Towing locally I store the bimini in the "booted" position. If I am towing longer distances I will place the bimini inside the cockpit and use my trailering cover.

We do the same with our 1900 except we trailer with bow cover only.
Upright and zipped up for local trailering (staying under 65mph). Long distances we set it inside the cockpit (with pipe insulation slid over bimini ends).

I've been towing my 2100 with it in the raised position while zipped up in the cover with no problem. Speeds I keep around 65 but have hit 70 and a bit over that when coming down a hill to make going up the next one a bit easier. Seems well planted in the up position, stay's stable and no damage yet; though to be honest I don't know what the correct protocol is when trailing a bimini myself. It was up when I bought it and brought it home on the highway and I never thought much of it after that.

This worked for me.

Search for "svedasfish" ....for link below. I made a set of short poles and added poll mounts forward so I could secure the bimini either forward or aft it a very low secure position for trailering. There are pictures I posted.
