I don't see a problem either way. I rather like the decending order.

I vote for breaking it down by model, but if the search function works its not such a big deal either way.

I agree that it's not a big deal, but if it's not difficult, a breakdown by model would be nice.

It won't be that long before the "current models" become the "old models". Then you'll have to refile everything. By model seems a more permanent way, or by model year (or decade), though those will create quite a few sub categories.

I'd say break it down more into models that are very similar...

say 2100 and below
2100-2400
2400-2800

etc... There are so many different models, new and old, that breaking each of them down into a subforum would be a neverending task on it's own. But many models have little difference except for a foot or two of length that could easily be classified into the same category.

Why not break it down the way Regal does: sport boats, sport cruisers, and sport yachts? It's possible the site may get greater participation from all groups that way. But then my computer expertise is limited to turning it on/off, so what do I know ;)

I like this idea since on many models within these groups have thesame equipment but the boats are just different sizes.

Not that it's not great the way it is, but like anything with a lot of files in it, it's always easier to resource something when it's in order.

I like the owners manual sub division idea, just wish my boat was already included. Great job though. Very informative.

I like the idea of a breakdown following the Regal classifications because of the many features shared by boats in the same classification such as sportyachts. That said, I generally review postings by using the "new posts" function and don't really pay much attention to the forum titles unless I'm posting a new topic.

Is this still an option? the search function doesnt work at all for searching the new model #s. ex. "46 sc". It would be nice to have a subtopic specific just to each regal model.

I like the idea of a model breakdown. You could group a series (i.e. 4060, 4160 4260, 4460) all in a "4000" series group? As we have a 4160 most of the posts on the smaller vessels have nothing in common with the larger ones other than they are all Regals.

It sounds like reworking the hierarchy of the forums is a task.

I've recently migrated to this forum, as I migrated from years of Sea Ray to a proud Regal owner.

While the clubsearay boards do have the forums broken down into categories, the users also started topic strings for specific models. This could be done with the current structure of this board - e.g. topic "Official 4160 Thread" (yes, my bias).

Granted, with active users on higher volume models, the string might get rather long; however, for new owners of those models it would be a wealth of specific information.

I'd like to know the long-terms participants' thoughts, as to get such a thing going will take participation of a lot of folks with model experience.
And, I don't want to be an "upstart" newbie here. I really like the forum, enjoy reading all the posts. I've also learned a ton reading the threads as I worked through purchasing my first Regal.

Thoughts?

Another forum I am on has too many sections.

It has two effects:

1. It dilutes the postings, most sections have one or two posts
2. Because of point 1 everyone posts in a single "general" section anyway

I would go no further than starting an informal standard of where any posts are specific to a model, then the model number starts the Subject.

e.g.

"2250 - changing the docking light bulb"
"4080 - shower pump not working"
Regal 2250
