Where’s the 46SC?

Postby bornerm » Fri Apr 20, 2018 4:19 pm

Has Regal discontinued the 46SC? It’s no longer on their website. If so, too bad. That leaves a large gap between the 42’ & 53’

It looks like the 53 is no longer on the website?

None of those largest models in the line up are in the website anymore; may be Regal is following Sea Ray strategy of building up to 40 ff models?
Competition has increased a lot in the last few years with larger sizes from non Us manufacturers so may be for the time being they are not in that space anymore. (Or Regal will launch new models??).
Homestly in my area i havent seen one 42 Fly nor 42 gran coupe (only at the boat show) so i m unsure how well those models have been working out for Regal.

I am speculating here, but just a guess that with the foreign import tariffs that hit pretty hard when they had big Canada and European markets.
Thanks, Chris

Coincidentally I happened to be in the Regal factory on Friday getting a tour. They indicated that they are stopping the production of the 53 - demand not there and price competition from the foreign makers (labor costs being the largest factor). There is one 53 currently on the production floor and it will be the last one. So the 42 is now their largest.

I think Regal has made the right moves creating their OB product offering (clearly where the demand is) and getting out of the largest segment. (Where Regal never was really a big player).

I hope they could pay some attention to the sub 40 range from now on. I think that they have a gap after they stopped offering the 38 express.
Other manufacturers offers more updated options in that segment (Carver C34, C37; Jeanettau Nc 33, 37, etc) so lets if Regal decides to fill that gap now that they will have a narrower product range.

I went on the 42 fly at a boat show and was not impressed. Very poor layout. They went the Euro style and failed... They need to go back to the 3880/4080 style.
I haven't seen a 42 fly on the water other than the boat show and I think its still for sale from last year. I wonder if it's the 3/4 million dollar price tag...
I wonder if this segment is just declining in general. My dock area used to have a wait list for 45' slips. 4 were empty this year. It's a real downer because I can't afford these crazy new prices so someone has to buy it new for me to get it used 10-15 years from now. :-)
