4260 Owners....WHERE ARE YOU??

Postby robnbern » Sat Dec 24, 2016 9:15 am

Good morning....just checking in to ask where are all of the 4260/4460 owners? We purchased a 2005 4260 with Volvo TAMD75 Diesels, last year and LOVE the boat. Was hoping to share information on fixes, mods etc. Coming from a Sea Ray, which had a VERY active forum (Club Sea Ray), I was hoping to find the same here. So far, I'm learning a lot about my boat, so if you've got any questions, please let me know, I'll see if I've tackled that problem yet. In the spring, I'll be doing my first impeller change and I'm nervous about that port side, so any tips let me know. Also, does anyone else HATE the darn bilge in this boat?? It feels micro, given the size of the machine.

Hey Robin... Have a 2002 4260 with tamd 74p's. Had 1 year and been happy. Headliner panels in forward stateroom sagging. Trying to figure that out. Faria tachs need some attention also. Recently had a turbo sensor go bad. $400 part fixed it. 1 major issue with a prop shaft failing in cruise. Had a few minor issues but hopefully getting them behind me. Boat had been a bit neglected but slowly bringing her back to life.

Sorry about these issues. Hopefully, the mains are in great shape. I went thru 2...yes TWO sets of props this season. Had the first pair pulled and repaired after purchase of boat. Then 2 weeks after getting the new wheels installed, I hit a deadhead at about 8kts. Shook the boat so hard, shut down the port engine. When we hauled the boat the next day, there were sections of metal ripped out of the wheel and two blades bent over. Thankfully, no other issues.

SHORT POLE:

Does anyone know the measurement or type of pole used to drop the cockpit table from table height to convert to a bed. I can't find the item in the owners parts list manual. GRRRRRRRR. Also, if your spot light blows, let me know. I purchased one from Regal for $89, because there were no markings on my blown bulb. When I got it home, I crossed it, found the same bulb online for $12!!! YUP!!! $12....

Congrats on the 4260! Great boat...
We have the 3880 w/Yanmars so while I can help with general questions....not so much specific to your 4260.

Congrats and welcome!
We bought our 2005 in September. Love the boat. We've done some extensive work on her. I'll start posting pictures.

Posting pictures is getting the best of me. Pics are too large, or too wide, then too tall. There may be a delay in my postings as a result

Just changed impellers today on same 2002, 4260. Port side was the challenge. Used zip tie to compress fins prior to installation. Much easier to fit it in that way.

Trying to bring this thread alive and get the participation thriving again. Blue Mind, has had a significant amount of work done recently. Posting the pictures has been a big challenge for me. Here's my instrument panel upgrade. This is the Before picture. Previous owner installed the newer electronics, leaving an eye sore for a mounting job. I found some deals on a matching A78 and Autopilot to update it. We Pulled the panels, had them properly cut, hydrodipped with an updated pattern to pull in boat colors, and reinstalled. I found a Regal 44 steering wheel in a Regal dealership in Fort Lauderdale, returned because the center pad leather was pealing. I removed the leather and had the center cap hydrodipped in the same pattern. Leaving our helm much improved.

wow, that looks great. Did you purchase a new dash piece or just reuse the old one?

Thanks guys, I was very happy with the way it came out. I used the same pieces, and hydrodipped them in the pattern that my wife chose. She's in charge of colors. We used Chromefish Customs. chromefishcustoms.com (772-777-2625). These talented guys work out of a modest shop here in stuart. One visit with them and they knew exactly what we wanted. Lifetime warrantee on this as well. Here's the pics just after we picked up the finished product.
