Regal Gauges

If you could ask Regal a question directly then what would it be? (While Regal does read our site from time to time please do not expect them to answer your question here!)

Regal Gauges

Postby gwido1 » Thu Feb 22, 2018 12:36 pm

I have a 2002 Regal 3860 , I want to replace the gauges. My tach is a 4000 rpm with hour meter for diesel . Black chesapeake in stainless. I can't find a replacement set . Any ideas or should I look into changing gauges ?

You could use the "lifetime" warranty from Fiara, however it will cost a good chunk of money still but if you don't want to swap everything out that would be the cheapest.

I assume it is cosmetic in nature and not because its broken? I believe that was a custom color combo for Regal so I do doubt you will find any.
Thanks, Chris

I agree Steve, but it depends on the budget and what you want to do. All new would be good and I would say run away from Faria... ;)
Thanks, Chris

When I converted to diesels, I replaced my Faria tachs with Aetna. Precision of +/- 1rpm!
Had new panels made and had enough room to replace the old combination gauges.

Chris, I agree. The most disturbing item is that in a $100/$500k+ vessel Regal uses gauges that are notorious for failing just out of warranty (never heard about the "lifetime" warranty and in a previous post ""It would cost a big chunk of money"?)! We have long given up on the Faria tach's (have to smack the bezel to even get a reading) and rely on the oil PSI and Jacket water switches much more than the gauge readings at the helm. As the tach's are so far off I just listen to the engine harmonics to synchronize the engines speed while under way. Fairly easy to do as you just listen to the "drone" and that will put you within a few % of synchronizing at any throttle setting.

I went through the Faria warranty process on a 8 year old boat. They re-calibrated our OIL Pressure Gauge. It was a process from start to finish but it works great now and we didn't have to deal with a replacing one gauge and having them not match. I think it cost $70

If you go to their website it walks you through the process. I even called and spoke to the technician before and after he worked on our gauge to explain the issue and understand how he repaired it.

No complaints or regrets.
