Smart tabs on a 03 1800LSR

Postby Joeaekdb » Mon Oct 02, 2017 1:28 pm

Hello everyone. Need a little help with my boat. Bought a 03 1800lsr with the 3.0 a few months ago. Boat runs great after tuning everything up. Will run right at 39 mph at around a tach rpm of 4400 with two people and a cooler. My problem is that when I get 4 people onboard it takes forever like 1-2 min to get on plane and porpoises when there with hardly any trim up. Huge wake bow up. Just seems severely under powered. I have done some research and it seemed as though smart tabs would help to fix this. I bought the recommended kit and tried installing last week. I seem to have room to install on the starboard side, but it seems as though its a no go on the port side. Anyone have any ideas?? Fyi it does have a brand new OEM 3 blade 19p prop. Do you have anyone in the bow of the boat or is everyone in the stern? I find it easier to plane when there is some weight up front.

When there are more than my wife and i, I have her move to the front to help but it still takes awhile to plane. It seems the people that go out with us say they love boats, but then after afraid to move around once the boat is moving.

I did hear back from Nauticus yesterday and they are helping on placement of the tabs. Right now, either going to be directly where the bunks are, or inboard of them right at 8-10 inches from centerline.

When we bought our '03 1800 with the 3L it came factory with a 21p.
I could even pull up a skier with that prop.
For better everyday rpm's I normally ran a 23 and could still make 4800 at WOT.
If you're running a 19p, you should be able to jump out of the water and easily over-rev the engine at WOT.
Do you keep your boat in the water? If so, is the hull clean?
My top speed was 42-43mph.

Last night I went and checked out the prop, low and behold it is a 14 1/4 X 21. Not the 19 that the last owner told me he put on it. Motor runs great, hull is clean. Just gave it a tune up when I bought it.
