Swimplatforms.com and Samson Tower Install

Postby sn1perii » Tue Jun 14, 2016 8:26 am

EDIT POST - Update to include the new Samson tower with bimini, speakers, and board rack. Picture taken at Norfork Lake, AR.

Just wanted to share a few pictures of the swim platform I installed on my 2004 Regal 2200. Really great addition to the boat. Platform sits right at water level like the factory ones on the newer 2300 and 2500 series.

I installed this myself with the help of my father and good boating friend. Some of the anchor bolt locations were challenging, but the end result was worth it.

Swimplatforms.com and Samson was a great company to work with. Color match is perfect and the platform finish is really great.

That looks awesome! Very nice. Can you give us an approximate spend? How long did the install take you?

As much as you want :D

The price range varies based on the options you choose. Having a two-tone with stainless rail like mine was $1895 shipped. Single color with plastic rail only are cheaper.

Art at swimplatforms.com (service@swimplatforms.com) can give you a quote for your make/model and options list.

Install took about six hours total including all final caulking of trim and cleanup.

I have a 2008 2200 model like yours and i'm getting ready to order the same swim platform from Swimplatforms.com and had a couple questions. Has the platform affected the way the boat gets out of the water or the way it drives?
I installed a swimplatform before on a Stingray boat before and it was hard to get the bolts and nuts on and a lot of work but worth it when it is done. How tough is it to get to the backside of the bolts to put the washer and nuts on? It looks like some of the outside bolts would be impossible did you remove anything out of the boat to get to them?

thanks

Get a skinny friend! I took the trim pump out of the engine bay. I assume your back bench seat comes out on the 2008. Detach your hatch struts and prop the engine hatch open. Take your time with measurements.

It doesn't affect boat performance. You'll really like it.

Does that not create more drag with it sitting in the water like that? I assume it comes just above the waterline when on plane, but does it kill your holeshot before the nose lowers, and back comes up?

No issues with holes hot. I am running a high five prop. Got it before either the tower or platform. When I'm wake boarding behind the boat I see that the water is well below the platform. I'm 230 lbs and no issues pulling me up. The only time the platform is on surface of water is slow idle.

All the newer regals have platform that sit on/near water when at rest.

I wouldn't go back to pre platform boat. Makes hanging out at anchor and prepping for kneeboarding/wake boarding so much easier.

Nope. Just the SX drive. Wish I had the duo. You should have no issues at all.

Swimplatforms.com makes great products, a friend of mine has one on a Crownline that has held up great for 6 years now.
