3260 anchor

Postby Ryan903w » Sat Sep 15, 2018 6:44 pm

I am thinking of switching to a plow anchor on my 3260. I was wondering if anyone is using one and if so what size is it and did you have to change anything on your roller?

This is not directly responding to your question but can help you on narrowing the size selection. I have a 40ft boat that came from factory with a 32 lb plow anchor.

Most anchor sites have a chart. Pick the size one size larger!

Wow Rpontual, only 32lbs on a 40' boat. That is just the bare minimum, always upside ground tackle for sure. Its cheap insurance when you want to stay put. Also know the type of bottom you will be anchoring in. Each one has pluses and minuses for the different bottoms. Don't use the factory size, if you replace, go up one more size. If you only anchor on an inland lake on calm days then don't worry to much, but if you get into any wind or storms that might come up make sure you upsize.
Thanks, Chris

My concern was what is the largest size that would fit on a 3260. My father in law has a plow on his rinker 312, I will most likely check it for size and fitment before I order one.

I have a plow anchor on my 2003 3260, although I can't say the brand nor size as I don't have that info handy nor is it in my survey. Picture attached. It works very well as long as I provide sufficient scope, otherwise even with all chain it can drag anchor.

That is a Lewmar Delta Anchor - Galvanised. https://www.lewmar.com/node/11595
No idea on size, but their site may give recommendations. As I said, above, go at least one size larger.
I have one also, and love it.

I will add, however, that I had trouble with it dropping without my 'help'. I added a Delrin block under the shank to raise the shank parallel to the deck, and it drops flawlessly now.

PipeDreams did you have to change your bow roller? I test fitted a 22lbs today and seemed to be kinda awkward in the way it fit.

Purchased this stainless steel 10kg (22lbs) plow anchor 6 years ago. Looks great and works well anchoring.
It sits well in the roller, just have to give it a small nudge to get it going. One day I'll probably switch out the roller
so it hangs a little lower and will roll out on its own.
You may have to try a few different plow/delta anchors from different manufacturers, they may look alike but
all could be slightly different.

My local boat chandelier was selling locally made S/S anchors. Cost about $300 cdn, a lot cheaper than buying a brand name like Lewmar.

The PO had used the anchor sufficiently to destroy the anchor roller, some kind of black plastic. I tried some cheap rubber rollers and they too got destroyed. Searched the net extensively, and found Kingston Anchor, in Kingston Canada. Ordered a new "delrin" "cetal" or whatever roller. Supremely satisfied with it. Suggest you give them a try on-line.
