Hauling 4160 out on a trailer To Have Bottom washed and

Postby gofast24 » Fri Jun 29, 2018 11:33 am

What do you guys think about having our 4160 pulled out on a big trailer (at a launch ramp) and driven to another marina about 15 miles away (from Holiday Marina to a dealer in gainsville, GA) to have bottom pressure washed and new bottom paint (vs. Marine Travel Lift hauled via straps in the water and done by the marina we are docked at)? Reason, about $1000 higher in cost for the strap pull out vs. the trailer out job. I dont like the idea of a 14' X 44' boat back on a trailer for the first time since it was delivered to our lake in 2001!

You will need over width and over height permits to haul that on a road.

I would want to make sure the trailer had lots of bunks or blocking to spread out the load. You also won’t be able to clean and paint the areas under the bunks or blocking.

My Regal dealer, transports all the boats via trailer, up to 44 foot.

Thanks guys, I really dont like the idea of hauling it out on a trailer, traveling 15 miles, and then having new bottom paint with all the blocks/bunks in the way of both the wash and re paint. Just the haul out on a Marine Travelift at our marina will cost about $480, then the work starts and dry dock fee's every day while out plus the pressure wash and possible bottom re paint (another $3-$5 K) or more.
