Hudson River trip

Postby rscriv » Thu Jun 05, 2008 8:59 pm

We are planning a trip from our home on the LI Sound (Stony Brook) July 7, around lower Manhatten up to the area of the Tappan Zee Bridge. The next day we are going to head up the Hudson, not sure how far but thinking of West Point. Then return home over the next 2 days.

Any suggestions as to where to stay. A few boys, places with pools prefered. Also any sights, restaurants along the way to look out for?

Thanks!

First day you should push a bit farther and stay at Haverstraw Marina or Stony Point Bay Marina. Both have pools and should have restaurants by the time you come. Haverstarw has more water but IMHO SPBM is friendlier.

For the second day head up to Roundout Yacht Basin in Kingston. Very nice people, pool, etc...

On the way back stop in Newburgh for lunch at Torches, free dock on the water. Be sure to try the buffalo calamari and crème brûlée.

We are away during the time period you will be up our way or I would invite you to one of our infamous raft-ups.

Thanks Rommer! I've booked it Stony Pt on the way up and Haverstraw on the way back. Looking forward to it. Is it possible to stop and tie up at West Point?

Rommer:

I want to thank you for you advice. We did it just the way you said, Stony Point the first night, Roundout the next, and Haverstraw Marina the last night. My boys and I had a great voyage!

Thanks
