Which is the correct pickup?

Postby josewebx » Fri May 04, 2012 7:38 pm

Hello all

I am considering buying a regal between the years of 2003 and 2005. I am interested in a size between 30' and 33' powercruiser. Does anybody know which pickup truck I should buy? I want for it to be in between the years of 2004 and 2005.
I am thinking a dodge ram 2500 Quad Cab 4x4 HEMI ST or SLT or Laramine.
Or a ford F250
I want to keep the boat in my driveway.

Thanks to all those who read this post. :)

If it was me ,with a boat that size I'd be looking at a dually. Thats what I pull my boat with 2003 3500 GMC dually w/ a Duramax & 5 speed auto Allison tranny. Pulls my boat very well, I only move my boat by truck twice a year tho, april to put her in the water & oct to take her out of the water .
If your going to trailer all the time I' diffenetly be looking for a dually diesel. ( my opinion ) :D ;)

You"ll surely need a diesel 250 or 350 truck for something like that. Make sure you are within tow limits.
This is nothing to fool with....
I have a 2003 2860 with 3 axle aluminum trailer it's right at 12,000 lbs. I tow with a 2500 GMC diesel.
I recommend electric/hydraulic trailer brakes.

There are a lot of different opinions on tow vehicles. I use a 2006 Ram Diesel quad cab 4x4 (not dually). Wouldn't dream of not going Diesel for a boat that size. the low gear 4x4 has been the difference between making it out or not at some ramps so I'm glad I have that. Never felt like I needed a Dually, but maybe if I had one I'd see what it did for me. I tow along some steep hills but never feel worried about power. After towing 15 or so times though It still gives me white knuckles. Maybe I'll get used to it someday. Maybe its best I don't.

I looked at trailering and for the cost of the truck and diesel maint. , not to mention boat ramp rage. I decided on dry storage and what a great decision, it really spoils you.
